Diwali is often seen as the festival of lights, firecrackers, and vibrant ethnic outfits, but it’s equally about the food that brings everyone together. While the diyas glow and the sky bursts into colour, the kitchen is where the true magic of Diwali unfolds. Cooking for Diwali isn’t just about feeding others—it’s about sharing love, culture, and tradition.
Hosting friends and family is a custom where the table becomes the epicentre of the celebration. Sharing these festive treats goes beyond offering food; it’s about embracing the spirit of togetherness. In many ways, the food represents the heart of Diwali, bringing people together, nurturing relationships, and creating memories that last long after the festival ends.
Here are some recommendations that you should definitely add to your Diwali menu—not only because they’re delicious, but also because they bring a balance of taste and health to the table.

- Cut the sides of the bread
- Cut your zero maida bread slices into triangles.
- Smear ghee on the bread triangles
- Dip the bread slices into the warm sugar syrup for just a few seconds, making sure they absorb the flavor but don’t become soggy.
